Clinical Supervision

Reflective, specialist supervision for trainee and experienced therapists

Clinical work can leave us with questions that deserve time and careful thought. You may be developing your confidence as a therapist, working with increasingly complex presentations, or seeking a fresh perspective on an established practice.

I offer individual and group clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists and psychosexual and relationship therapists. My approach combines supportive reflection with thoughtful challenge, helping you deepen your formulation, examine the therapeutic relationship and make considered clinical decisions.

I am a COSRT Accredited Clinical Supervisor, UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and COSRT Accredited Psychosexual and Relationship Psychotherapist/Clinical Sexologist.

How I work as a supervisor

I aim to create a supervisory relationship in which you can speak openly about uncertainty, difficult feelings and the work that feels stuck. We attend to what is happening for your client, what happens between you, and how your own responses may help us understand the clinical process.

My approach is integrative, drawing on Gestalt, relational, psychodynamic and group analytic perspectives alongside structured approaches to formulation and intervention. Supervision can move between detailed discussion of clinical material, theoretical exploration and experiential methods, according to your needs and preferred way of learning.

We may explore therapeutic impasses, transference and countertransference, boundaries, ethical dilemmas, risk, endings and the emotional demands of practice. Attention to difference, identity, sexuality, culture and power forms part of understanding both the clinical and supervisory relationships.

Specialist clinical supervision

I offer specialist supervision for clinicians working with addiction, compulsive sexual behaviour, problematic pornography use, psychosexual and relationship difficulties, and psychological trauma. This includes work with sexual offending and other complex forensic presentations, with careful attention to therapeutic process, risk, safeguarding, professional boundaries and scope of practice.

You do not need to work exclusively within these specialisms. I also welcome therapists seeking support with the sexual or relational dimensions of their wider clinical work.

Experience supervising clinicians and teams

My supervision experience extends across private practice, psychiatric services, addiction treatment and community counselling.

At Priory Hospital North London, I worked as a Clinical Supervisor and Group Reflective Practice Facilitator, providing individual and group supervision for managers, qualified therapists and trainees. Earlier roles included Therapy Services Manager, Clinical Lead in General Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment Programme Manager.

These roles involved working with psychotherapy and psychology teams across inpatient, day patient and outpatient services. They inform my understanding of the organisational pressures, multidisciplinary relationships and clinical responsibilities that practitioners bring to supervision.

At Sangam Asian Women’s Centre, I provided individual and group supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors within a domestic violence counselling service, alongside staff development workshops.

Supervision training and teaching

My formal supervision training includes a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision.

My wider clinical training includes Gestalt psychotherapy with individuals and groups, two years of training in group analytic approaches, and diplomas in Clinical Sexology and Transpersonal Couple Counselling and Psychotherapy. It also includes CBT, DBT and trauma-focused approaches, including Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I am currently undertaking further training in Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. This breadth allows me to work flexibly with supervisees across different therapeutic approaches while maintaining a coherent clinical formulation.

I also contribute to professional learning about supervision. My COSRT teaching includes Supervision Models in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy Practice, exploring supervisory frameworks, professional accountability, practitioner development and the supervisory relationship.

I have delivered COSRT professional training on Gestalt and Two-Chair Work in Supervision, exploring how experiential methods can deepen reflection and help supervisees understand complex clinical material.

As Founder and Course Director of the Institute of Psychosexual Psychotherapy, and a qualified higher-education lecturer, I bring experience of teaching, curriculum development and supporting the development of therapists.

For trainees and experienced practitioners

For trainees and newly qualified therapists, supervision offers a place to connect theory with practice, develop formulation and clinical judgement, and find your own therapeutic voice. We would discuss your course or placement requirements before agreeing arrangements.

For experienced clinicians, the work may focus on complex cases, recurring impasses, specialist development or the relational and organisational demands of practice. There is room to question established ways of working and consider alternative perspectives.

We will agree the purpose, frequency and boundaries of supervision together, taking account of your experience, caseload and professional requirements.

Discuss working together

Please get in touch with a brief outline of your training or professional background, the work you undertake and what you are looking for from supervision.

We can discuss suitability, availability, fees and the arrangements that would best support your practice.
